We had the opportunity to join Grey Goose and their team for the 2016 Kentucky Derby & Kentucky Oaks races at Churchill Downs this past week. Attending such a storied event is truly something everyone should experience at one point or another. If you love extravagant outfits, hats the size of car tires, men that look like 1930’s authors, betting and lots and lots of over indulgence, the Derby experience is right up your alley.
We love the chance to get dressed up and take part in something that seems so out of place in this day and age. There is not one person that isn’t dressed to the 9’s and having a blast while doing it. And rightly so. It’s a prerequisite to do so. Even if it’s 120 degrees.
We got to do a few things that we are sure would be any horse racing fans dream come true (besides winning millions on a race). We were taken back to the stables to meet and pet the horses as well as into the paddocks and winners circle. We even got to walk onto the actual track. Admittedly, neither of us know anything about horse racing. But, we still felt the history and energy of being on the track and meeting these beautiful animals and their owners.
